Pokagon State Park site of May triathlon/duathlon
Angola, Ind.-The TriFort Triathletes will sponsor a triathlon/duathlon at Pokagon State Park on Saturday, May 19, beginning at 9 a.m.
The 1.5K swim takes place in Lake James, while the bike course travels 40 kilometers outside the park. The 10K run will be held on the park’s trails. For the duathlon, the 10K and 5K runs will be inside the park while the 40-kilometer bike course will be on the rolling terrain of Northern Indiana Lakes Country.
The cost is $60 for USAT members and $69 for non-members if registrations are received before May 11. After May 12, add an additional $5. Same-day registrations are $85 for USAT members and $94 for non-members.
Relay teams are $120 for USAT members and $129 for non-members, before May 11. After May 12, add an additional $5. Same-day registration is $145 for USAT members and $154 for non-members.
The park entrance fee is $5 per Indiana car and $7 per out-of-state vehicle. This is the first time the TriFort Triathletes has hosted this Olympic-distance race at Pokagon. The event is sponsored by the Women’s Care Center, Fort Wayne.
Pokagon State Park is located in northeastern Indiana, just south of the intersection of Interstate 69 and Interstate 80/90 (the Indiana Toll Road.) Angola is less than 200 miles from Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis and Cleveland.

Tourism bureau publishing new antique guide
The Steuben County Tourism Bureau will publish a new county-wide antique guide.
Any local antique shop that did not recently receive a letter regarding this new guide is asked to call public relations manager Janet Hartsuff at 665-5386 to request an update form.
The deadline for inclusion in the guide is April 27.
Remodeler’s Showcase set for May 5
New homes also included in showcase
The 13th Annual Remodeler’s Showcase Tour will be held in northeast Indiana and southern Michigan on Saturday, May 5.
The free tour, presented by the Builders Association of Northeast Indiana, features lakefront remodeling and new construction. The building trades class at Hamilton High School also will participate in the showcase.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 5. Sponsors of the event include Jim Ingledue Construction Inc., Hamilton Lumber and Bob Buescher Homes.
