Local hospitality leaders attend
annual Hoosier Hospitality conference in Indy
Several local hospitality leaders joined hundreds of colleagues at the annual Hoosier Hospitality conference in Indianapolis March 18 and 19.
The two-day conference offered educational seminars for professionals in the tourism, hotel and restaurant industries.
Workshops included "Using Technology to Reach Travelers," "Making the Most of Your Marketing Dollars" and "Customer Service-Get on the Right Track."
"I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with other members of the hospitality industry and the sessions were very educational," said June Julien, Steuben County Tourism Bureau Executive Director. "I attended a cutting edge marketing session led by nationally-known Roger Brooks. I brought back some great information to use to make our destination more attractive."
The annual conference is sponsored by the Association of Indiana's Convention and Visitors Bureaus; the Indiana Office of Tourism Development; the Indiana Hotel & Lodging Association and the Restaurant & Hospitality Association of Indiana.
Diane Morey, Potawatomi Inn director of sales, said, "As always, this conference serves as a way to rev up our engines to be more positive. The one thing that kept coming through during the conference was that customer service is the first and foremost thing we need to keep in mind with our guests. Customers always need to feel they are number one and our sole purpose is to be there for them so they will keep coming back for a great experience."
Also attending from the Potawatomi Inn was general manager Peter Nosek; food and beverage manager Sandy Wentz and executive housekeeper Kay Wendorf.
