Steuben County Tourism Bureau compiling 2006 calendar of events

The Steuben County Tourism Bureau is updating the 2006 calendar of events for inclusion in the Summer Sun, Winter Fun Visitor Guide. The calendar is also listed on the bureau’s website, www.lakes101.org

Organizations that sponsored events last year received forms in the mail this week to update their listings. Forms are due to the tourism bureau by Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Any not-for-profit organization sponsoring an event geared toward visitors in 2006 may call the tourism bureau to request an event form. For more information, contact Janet Hartsuff, Public Relations Manager, at 665-5386.

Friday Night Flight Special

Every Friday through Feb. 24, enjoy a special group rate during the Friday Night Flight Special at Pokagon State Park's toboggan.

Groups will receive one free toboggan rental for every two toboggans rented. The normal toboggan rental fee of $10 per hour applies. Sleds will be rented on a first-come first-served basis and supplies are limited.

Friday hours are 5 to 10 p.m.

Cash, check and Visa and Mastercard are accepted.

Free state tourism publications available

Three new state tourism publications are available locally at the Steuben County Tourism Bureau.

The free 2006 Indiana Festival Guide, Indiana Travel Guide and Play Pack may be picked up between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at the tourism bureau, 207 S. Wayne St., Angola.

The festival guide lists hundreds of festivals and events throughout the Hoosier state, while the travel guide focuses on Indiana destinations. Play Pack contains coupons for packages and discounts at many hotels, restaurants and shops.

The tourism bureau also has a variety of vacation planners and brochures available from all areas of Indiana.
