Fiesta Latina celebrated in Angola
Angola, Ind.-Traditional Latino food, music and dancing will be featured at the
Fifth Annual Fiesta Latina Sunday, Sept. 10 from noon to 7 p.m. at Commons Park in Angola.
The free festival also offers arts and crafts and games for children, including a ‘mini fiesta.’ The park is located one block south of U.S. Highway 20 and two blocks east of Cameron Memorial Hospital.
Festival-goers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

Angola celebrates Fallfest
Angola, Ind.-Celebrate the beginning of autumn with musical entertainment, the Great American Clydesdales, a Big Wheel race, craft booths, food concessions and a Civil War encampment in downtown Angola on Sept. 23 and 24.
Fallfest kicks off Saturday, Sept. 23 with a pancake breakfast. The craft, food and merchant vendors open at 9 a.m., along with the Civil War encampment and the Family Fun Fest. The group Spare Parts and bagpiper Mark Gropp will perform at 9 a.m. on the main stage downtown. Mike Conley takes the stage at 11 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., Orland’s Great American Clydesdales will parade around the public square, followed by the 1:30 p.m. Big Wheel Race. The Freak Brothers perform at 2 p.m. and the ‘Makeover Angola’ candidates will be presented at 3:15 p.m. Jon Bruney’s strongman exhibition is slated from 4 p.m., followed by the Romine Brothers at 5 p.m. A Civil War dance starts at 7 p.m. on the main stage.
On Sunday, Sept. 24, all vendors open at 10 a.m., along with the Family Fun Fest and Civil War encampment. A hot dog eating contest starts at noon, followed by the 12:30 p.m. pet parade around the public square. Spike and the Bulldogs perform at 1 p.m., followed by Higher Plain at 3 p.m.
On Friday, Sept. 22, Nostalgia will perform horn band music at 7 p.m. downtown and the Family Fun Fest will be open until 9 p.m.

Indiana Seaplane Pilots Association
hosts fly-in at Pokagon State Park
Angola, Ind.-The Indiana Seaplane Pilots Association will host the Hoosier state’s only seaplane fly-in on Sunday, Sept. 24 at Pokagon State Park.
Organizer Randy Strebig is estimating 20 planes will fly in for the day. Pilots from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and possibly Wisconsin are expected to take part. A temporary ramp will be constructed for amphibious planes in front of the Potawatomi Inn.
The public is invited to meet the pilots and view the airplanes between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. The normal park gate fees of $5 per Indiana car and $7 per out-of-state car will be charged.
